Terry Montesi
In 1991 Terry Montesi founded Trademark, which has since developed or invested in over $1.2 billion in retail and mixed-use properties. Terry was formerly a principal and co-founder of Huff, Brous, McDowell & Montesi, Inc., Fort Worth’s largest commercial brokerage firm. Prior to that, Terry worked for Lincoln Property Company. In addition, Terry and his brother became Blockbuster Video’s fourth franchisee in 1986. He is an active participant in the Fort Worth philanthropic community, serving as a board member for the Union Gospel Mission of Fort Worth and formerly serving as a director of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth and Junior Achievement. He currently serves as a member of the BBVA Compass Advisory Board, World Presidents’ Organization Maverick chapter, Urban Land Institute (ULI) and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). Terry formerly served on the Texas Exes Investment Committee and the ULI Awards for Excellence 2009 jury and was chairman of the 2006 ULI Place Making Conference. Terry holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a BBA from the University of Mississippi. He and his family reside in Fort Worth, Texas.
Tommy Miller
Tommy Miller joined Trademark in 1999 as development partner and is currently responsible for Investments and Asset Management. Tommy previously held executive positions with Santa Fe, N.M.-based Security Capital Group and its investee companies, CarrAmerica, Archstone, ProLogis and the predecessor to Regency Centers. He wrote the business plan for, and was executive vice president of CarrAmerica’s serviced office business, and directed office property acquisitions in multiple U.S. markets. He also served as the founding director of the Security Capital U.S. Investment Research Institute and senior manager with the Arthur Andersen Real Estate Services Group (formerly GA/Partners and Gladstone Associates) in Washington, D.C., and associate with Kenneth Leventhal & Co. in Dallas. Tommy is an Urban Land Institute (ULI) CRC Gold Flight Council member and is active in the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He is a director of Lyman Holdings and Lyman Lumber Company in Excelsior, Minn., and serves on the board of trustees of All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Trinity University.
Rick Knight
Rick Knight joined Trademark in 2002 and is responsible for finance and accounting functions as well as corporate administration. During his tenure at Trademark, Rick has been responsible for sourcing debt and equity for acquisition and development projects totaling over 6.6 million square feet. These transactions were comprised of over $650 million in debt including both construction loans and permanent financings and over $325 million in equity raises including both institutional partners as well as private placement syndications. Rick also has managed and participated in the creation of public/private partnerships whereby capital is sourced through government entities aggregating to over $85 million. Prior to joining Trademark, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Crescent Operating, Inc., a publicly traded real estate management company located in Fort Worth, Texas. Rick was responsible for the financial and administrative operations of Crescent Operating, Inc. and during his tenure revenues grew from $160 million per year to over $700 million per year. Prior to Crescent, Rick worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a manager in the Business Assurance practice of the Fort Worth office. Rick is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the AICPA and TSCPA. Rick graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in Accounting.
Les Garrett
Les Garrett leads leasing efforts for Trademark. Prior to joining Trademark in 2007, Les was Director of Development Leasing for CBL & Associates where he held primary responsibilities for leasing high-profile developments. Throughout his 25-year career, Les managed leasing teams for a number of real estate developers including Westfield Corporation, General Growth Properties and Simon Property Group. In addition to his development experience, he has worked with retailer, The Buckle, where he was responsible for real estate leasing efforts. Les has a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and an MBA from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
Fremon Baker
Fremon Baker, senior certified leasing specialist, joined Trademark in 2000. Formerly, he worked for Lincoln Property Company, where he served as vice president of leasing for two years. Fremon was also executive vice president and head of Woodmont Realty Associates retail brokerage company for over eight years. He holds a Texas real estate broker license, has earned the SCLS designation and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the Real Estate Council, Metro Commercial Investment Brokers, Society of Commercial Realtors, Texas Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors. Fremon has over 25 years of experience in commercial real estate specializing in retail project leasing, tenant representation, sales and development. He received a BBA in accounting from Texas Christian University.
Vince O'Toole
After starting his career with Homart Development in1990, Vince came to Trademark with 20-years of shopping center industry experience from Cousins Properties where he directed leasing for 4 lifestyle and 3 outdoor retail properties in the Western US. Prior thereto was regional leasing executive with GGP, where he lead leasing and merchandising for a regional mall portfolio totaling 16 properties, and L&B where he was responsible for 8 retail centers. Prominent retail properties leased under Vince’s leadership have included Tysons Corner Center and the Tysons Galleria (strategic merchandising) in Northern Virginia and the Streets at Southpoint in Durham, NC – some of the most productive regional malls in the US.
Kerby Smith
Kerby Smith joined Trademark in May 2001. Kerby has previously served many roles at Trademark including Analyst, Director of Finance and Vice President Finance. Kerby leads the Development division for Trademark in multiple markets, working on projects including property enhancements for Watters Creek in Allen, TX, Alliance Town Center and West Bend in Fort Worth, TX, as well as performing development feasibility study for third party clients. In Kerby’s prior Finance roles he has sourced over $600 million in debt and 300 million square feet of development including Market Street – The Woodlands, Watters Creek, Alliance Town Center and Market Street Flowood. Kerby is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and received his BS and MBA from Texas Christian University.
Doug Harmonson
Doug Harmonson joined Trademark in 1999 from OmniAmerican Federal Credit Union, where he was assistant vice president of Network Services. Previously, Doug was director of information technology for The Computer Assistant. In 2003, he was called on to help establish Trademark’s research department. Since starting this department, Doug has played a key role in developing several proprietary research tools for Trademark as well as providing research services both for in-house use and for Trademark’s partners. Doug has a BS degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Edward Manuel
Edward Manuel, Director of Development for Trademark, has been with the company since 2005. Edward has held numerous positions throughout several departments in the company, including leasing, finance, asset management and development. Throughout his tenure at Trademark, Edward has been instrumental in pre-leasing strategies for new developments, sourcing debt and equity for new transactions, asset management for existing portfolio assets as well as underwriting new development and acquisition opportunities. Edward is a member of Urban Land Institute – Young Leaders, International Council of Shopping Centers and the Greater Fort Worth Real Estate Council. He received his BBA in Finance with a Real Estate Concentration from Texas Christian University.
Jeff Higgins
Jeff Higgins, CLS serves Trademark as Strategic Alliance Partner and Consultant in Leasing and Business Development. Jeff has nearly 19 years of retail real estate experience in leasing, site selection, acquisitions, development, investments, brokerage and consulting. Jeff’s experience ranges all property types including regional malls, lifestyle centers, power centers and community centers. Most recently, he was with The Taubman Company where he led and directed the leasing program for over 75 key retail and restaurant accounts including Coach, Polo Ralph Lauren, Gap, The Cheesecake Factory, lululemon and Brookstone. Prior to joining Taubman, Higgins was owner and operator of a 2-store retail concept he acquired and repositioned. Higgins founded and owned Higgins Realty Group, a boutique retail leasing, acquisition, tenant representation and consulting firm. Prior thereto, he worked in leasing, brokerage and tenant representation opening the Detroit office of Staubach Retail Services and was a founding member of the retail team at Signature Associates, a Detroit based retail brokerage firm. Higgins received his BBA from The University of Michigan and he has also received the Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS) designation from ICSC.
Steve Bolger
Steve Bolger, a certified leasing specialist, serves as an integral part of Trademark’s leasing team. Steve works on several Trademark properties, including Market Street Flowood in Flowood, MS, and Watters Creek in Allen, TX. Steve joined Trademark from Bayer Properties in Birmingham, AL, where he served as leasing associate, specializing in local and regional leasing, including projects in Birmingham; Charleston, SC; Fort Collins, CO; Reno, NV; and Louisville, KY. He has been a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since 2006. In addition to his experience in the real estate profession Steve is involved with a wide array of charities and volunteer groups, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and ReRun thoroughbred adoption. Steve holds a bachelor’s in corporate and broadcast communications from Elon University.
