FORT WORTH, Texas (May 17, 2016) – Development milestones continue at WestBend, Trademark Property Co.’s 278,000-square-foot mixed-use development in Fort Worth’s University District. The property will welcome two new tenants this fall – Ascension and Dear Hannah – and has formally closed on the acquisition of a 3.5-acre tract contiguous to WestBend.

The acquired parcel is located on University Drive immediately south of WestBend, along the Trinity River. Conceptual planning is underway to develop additional mixed-use space featuring added ground floor retail, a signature hotel, and multi-family units. Currently, the site is occupied by a Hawthorn Suites.

Along with the expansion announcement, WestBend continues to add new tenants, including Drybar, which recently opened at the property. In addition, Ascension, a popular Dallas Design District coffee and wine bar, will open a 2,420-square-foot store overlooking the Trinity River and Trinity Trails this fall, and women’s clothing and accessories boutique, Dear Hannah, will open its third location, a 1,354-square-foot store this fall. WestBend will be the first Fort Worth location for both tenants.

“Trademark has been fortunate to bring a number of tenants that are new to the Fort Worth market to WestBend, and we’re pleased to continue that trend with Ascension and Dear Hannah,” said Terry Montesi, CEO, Trademark Property Co. “We’re seeing significant leasing momentum at WestBend, and the acquisition of land to the south allows us to continue to build on that momentum by offering greater frontage on University Drive and the Trinity Trails, added retail and restaurant space, along with a boutique hotel and multi-family units, both of which we see high demand for in the market. We believe that the ten acres on which the expanded WestBend sits is one of the best pieces of real estate in DFW.”

WestBend is currently undergoing a redevelopment, which includes adding new retail, restaurants and office space. Along with Drybar, Tyler’s opened at the property this spring, joining existing tenants Zoë’s Kitchen, East Hampton Sandwich Co., Core Power Yoga, Pax & Parker, Woodhouse Day Spa, and Silver Fox. In addition, HG Sply Co. will open this summer, complete with a 5,000-square-foot patio on the Trinity River and Trinity Trails.

The existing WestBend currently houses 278,000 square feet of office and retail space, including a new 57,000-square-foot, Class A building above ground floor retail.

WestBend’s redevelopment is designed to align with the principles of Trademark’s Conscious Place initiative, a stakeholder-driven development model that aims to ensure that its properties are more than just places of commerce, but also places of community and meaning. In support of this initiative, Trademark is incorporating features and amenities designed to educate, inspire and engage all patrons, including a public art program with works commissioned by local artists, Trinity River and Trinity Trails integration, bike racks, upgraded landscaping, valet, free structured parking, and generous outdoor seating areas on the Trinity River and Trinity Trails.
