Rice Village is one of the most beloved retail and mixed-use districts in the city of Houston, and minutes away from Rice University, one of the nation’s leading research universities.
The Rice University/Trademark ownership team is collaborating with adjacent Village property owners to create a stronger district with evolved and consistent streetscape, amenities, programming and branding.
In the latest series of spirited, Instagram-worthy art additions designed to bring a new vibe to the popular shopping and dining destination, Rice Village has installed a vibrant, modernistic owl sculpture by California-based artist Nathan Mabry, as well as an inspiring mural on Morningside Drive by Houston artist Mario Enrique Figueroa, Jr., better known as GONZO247. Additionally, a futuristic mural entitled “Space City” by local artist Michael C. Rodriguez shows a female astronaut with the Houston skyline in the background. Rodriguez’s work can be found near Susiecakes and Shake Shack on Amherst Street.
